Our workshops have been carefully designed to offer students real-world applications for reading
and writing, math, health, science and social studies. From JK - grade 12, our workshops are your

Program Details
Bring the kitchen to your classroom with one of our innovative and hands-on school workshops
Class Structure:
Class size min. 20 and max 30 students
Workshop Duration:
Each offering has been built in both a 1 or 1.5 hour format. In turn, we can adjust the class structure to fit the needs of your school.
Set up and Clean Down:
We will require access to the space a minimum of 1 hour prior to the star of the first workshop, and 1 hour preceding the last workshop to set up and clean down from the day.

Creative Confections

Students will explore the sweet science behind candy-making and the
importance of our senses as they prepare sour gummy candies and chocolatecovered treats. Scientific principles such as heat transfer, states of matter, and
properties of substances will be taught while observing how liquids turn into
solids. Additionally, they’ll learn about the anatomy of the nose and mouth and
how our senses work together to experience flavour.
Delectable Dumplings

Students will explore the art and science of making Gyoza-style dumplings,
including crafting a savory filling and a sweet soy dipping sauce. They’ll master
the coveted pleated folding technique and uncover the global significance of
dumplings, recognizing how food connects us all. This workshop ties into art,
mathematics, sensory analysis, and social studies, offering a delicious and
educational experience.
Energizing Energy Bites

Students will discover how food fuels our bodies and apply math
concepts like fractions, portions, and measurements in the process.
Through making two flavours of energy bite truffles, they'll see how
math is used in everyday cooking to create nutritious snacks that
power their day.

In this highly engaging workshop, students will discover how to view food as
essential fuel for their bodies and apply this knowledge to independently
create balanced, nutritious meals. The session begins with an interactive
presentation on nutritional concepts using PowerPoint, followed by a handson cooking experience where students put these ideas into practice. Each
participant will leave with a freshly prepared meal in take-home containers,
our Food as Fuel guide, and easy-to-follow recipes, giving them the
confidence and tools to continue making healthy, nourishing meals at home.
Scrumptious Samosas

Students will immerse themselves in Indian food culture by preparing samosas
and a fresh herb chutney from scratch. They’ll explore key food science concepts
such as gluten and dough development, and the role of the olfactory system in
flavour detection. This workshop combines culinary techniques with sensory
science for a comprehensive and engaging experience.
Spectacular Sushi

Students will learn the tricks of the trade for making cucumber maki while
mastering various knife cuts safely. They will also explore the importance
of rice in Japanese food culture, gaining insights into the traditions and
